Students compete for funding in Rowan University’s Idea Challenge

A dozen Rowan University students/teams will present business ideas to an audience of Rowan stakeholders and potential investors on Friday, Nov. 16, from noon to 3 p.m., in the Student Center Enyon Ballroom, for a chance to win equity-investments during Rowan’s third annual Idea Challenge.

Hosted by the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund, the Idea Challenge will feature students from various colleges demonstrating their entrepreneurial skills as they compete for awards that include $15,000 plus of in-kind prizes, such as use of an office in which to conduct business.

The Rowan Innovation Venture Fund and its sponsors, Rowan University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, William G. Rohrer College of Business, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering and College of Science & Mathematics, collaborated on the Idea Challenge.

The Rowan Innovation Venture Fund wants to impact the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in and around the Rowan campus, giving students the opportunity to express their creativity and intelligence.

The Rowan University Foundation established the $5 million Rowan Innovation Venture Fund in 2014. Howard Lubert, who manages the fund, initiated the Idea Challenge. The fund makes equity-investments in student, faculty, local and other startup ventures, with the goal of stimulating entrepreneurship and research in the South Jersey area.
